Michael Dean Woodson: A Legendary Basketball Coach

The Early Years

Michael Dean Woodson, known as Mike Woodson, was born on March 24, 1958, in Indianapolis, Indiana. His passion for basketball started at an early age, and he played for various teams before joining Indiana University in 1976.

NBA Career

Woodson's impressive college career led him to the NBA, where he was drafted by the New York Knicks in 1980. He played for several teams throughout his 13-season NBA career, including the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Denver Nuggets. Woodson was known for his excellent defense and shooting abilities.

Coaching Career

After retiring from playing, Woodson began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks in 1996. He went on to coach the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, and New York Knicks before being named the head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers in 2021.
