BAKERSFIELD, California - A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck near Lamont, California, on Tuesday night, causing widespread shaking throughout Southern California. The temblor occurred around 11:36 p.m. Pacific time and was felt as far away as San Bernardino and Los Angeles.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 10 miles east-southeast of Lamont in Kern County. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake had a depth of approximately 10.1 miles.

There have been no reports of any major damage or injuries, but the quake has left residents shaken. Many people reported feeling the ground shake violently and hearing loud noises.

Experts are still assessing the situation and investigating the cause of the earthquake. They say that it is too early to say whether this was an isolated event or the first in a series of aftershocks.
