Botswanan Sprinter Makes History, Defeating Olympic Champion

Tebogo Wins Gold in 200m Final

WEB Letsile Tebogo has etched his name in history as the first Botswanan athlete to win gold at the prestigious African Senior Athletics Championships and the World Athletics Championships.

Tebogo, who has already qualified for the African Senior Athletics Championships in Mauritius and the World Athletics Championships in Paris, stunned the world by beating Olympic 200m champion Noah Lyles in the final.

Botswana's Rising Star

Tebogo, just 21 years old, has quickly become a rising star in the sprinting world. Born on June 7, 2003, he currently ranks 10th in the world in the men's overall ranking and holds a personal best of 19.96 seconds in the 200m.

At the World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia, Tebogo made history by winning a silver medal in the 100m, becoming the first Botswanan man to win a medal at the World Championships.

Tebogo's achievements have brought immense pride to Botswana and inspired young athletes across the country. He is a testament to the potential and talent that exists within Botswana's sporting community.
