Tito Jackson, Former Member of the Jackson 5, Dies at 70

Tito Jackson, a member of the Jackson 5, has passed away at the age of 70, according to a rep for the family.

Jackson died Tuesday night at the age of 70 after a brief illness.

Tito Jackson was born on October 15, 1953, in Gary, Indiana. He was the fifth of ten children born to Joseph and Katherine Jackson. Jackson began his music career at a young age, singing and playing guitar with his brothers in the Jackson 5. The group was signed to Motown Records in 1968 and released their debut album, "Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5," in 1969. The album was a huge success, spawning the hit singles "I Want You Back," "ABC," and "I'll Be There."

The Jackson 5 went on to release a string of successful albums and singles throughout the 1970s. In 1976, the group left Motown Records and signed with Epic Records. They continued to release hit songs throughout the 1980s, including "Can You Feel It," "Beat It," and "Thriller." Jackson also released several solo albums during his career, including "Tito Time" (1977) and "From Tito with Love" (1987).

Jackson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 as a member of the Jackson 5. He is the father of three children: Toriano Adaryll Jackson, Tito Joe Jackson, and Taryll Adren Jackson.
